WALLABY FREE awnings - STRONG, SIMPLE & EFFICIENT

WALLABY FREE 450 awnings embody the very spirit of the brand: sturdiness, simplicity and efficiency.
Renowned for being among the toughest and quickest to use on the market, they can be set up in seconds, even by a single person, and provide optimum protection against sun, rain and wind.

Designed to cope with the most demanding conditions, they are based on a double-armed, reinforced aluminum frame, combining exceptional rigidity with low weight. Their premium polycotton Oxford Ripstop 340 g/m² fabric is 100% waterproof, UV-resistant and tear-proof, and features heat-sealed waterproof seams for maximum durability.

The arms incorporate 💡 LED USB lighting (2 to 4 bars depending on model), adjustable in intensity and color, and feature an engraved "Wallaby" decorative plate, the range's signature.
Each awning comes complete with telescopic feet, guy wires ( in case of bad weather) and a HD stainless steel fixing kit compatible with most roof racks & bars.

Its 1000D protective outer tarpaulin is waterproof, tear-proof and ultra-resistant, effectively protecting the awning from branches, rubbing and bad weather during your off-road trips.

For added comfort integral walls (with door, windows and insect screen) are available as an option, transforming your shade area into a truly enclosed shelter.

With its 450° opening angle (270°+180°) , easy handling and covered surface area of 8 to 12 m² depending on the version, the WALLABY FREE 450 can take you anywhere, from a quick bivouac to a long-term camp.

Fasteners

Our awnings are fastened using bolts that slide into the profile at the rear of the awning, combined with special reinforced brackets(see photo).

🛠️Positionnement free, subject to rigidity:
The awning can be freely positioned along the profile. However, to ensure that its self-supporting properties are fully guaranteed, the following points must be observed:

The distance between the nearest fastener and the pivot point must not exceed 20-25 cm.
(NB: the pivot plate itself occupies ~15-20 cm of the profile).
This constraint guarantees the rigidity necessary for the awning to function properly ( see photo).

📏Case of 270° awnings:
As these models have a single pivot point, this rule applies only to the rear, pivot-side attachment. The front attachment is free( maxium 100cm).

Choosing your FREE awning

🦘 Buying guide: Which FREE awning to choose?

Our WALLABY FREE awnings come in many shapes and sizes. Each model has its own advantages: the right choice depends on the vehicle, the space available and the use to be made of it.

🔹 FREE 200 & 250 (Squares)

Advantages :
- The simplest and lightest.
- Compact size, perfect for pick-ups with short hard tops, compact 4×4s or vans.
- Unbeatable price, ideal for first equipment.
Disadvantages :
- Smaller covered area.
- Less lateral protection than 270° or 360° models.
- Requires bars or a gallery adapted to the mounting center distance (see mounting tab).

👉 Choose the 200 cm for a short vehicle or a narrow available mounting center distance.
👉 Take the 250 cm if you want more shade and your vehicle's width allows it.

🔹 FREE 360 (2.10 m or 2.60 m sides)

Advantages :
- Covers the entire side of the vehicle.
- Ideal for vans and pick-up cells with a bulky tailgate or no need to cover the rear.
- Large lateral shading area.
Disadvantages :
- Slightly heavier and bulkier than the square FREE.
- Requires more space for deployment.
- Same fastening constraints as FREE square.

👉 2.10 m: suitable for compact vehicles with a narrow available mounting center distance.

👉 2.60 m: perfect for large vehicles (cells, vans) or need for maximum shade.

🔹 FREE 270° (2.10 m or 2.60 m)

Advantages :
- The best compromise between surface area, size and speed.
- Protects the side + rear of the vehicle.
- The most popular for all vehicles
- 1 single opening operation, 1 single "pivot point" fastening constraint.
Disadvantages :
- Surface slightly less than 360° or 450°.
- Fixing complicated if tailgate very large or other.

👉 2.10 m: recommended for compact vehicles or short pick-ups ( double cab).
👉 2.60 m: offers greater comfort, suitable for longer vehicles or for travelling with several people ( 50cm more on each arm equals ~50% more surface area).

🔹 FREE 450° (2.10 m or 2.60 m)

Advantages :
- Maximum shade area (covers side + rear + front).
- Ideal for large bivouacs or family trips.
- The shade follows the sun better thanks to the wider opening.
Disadvantages :
- Heavier and bulkier.
- Slightly longer installation ( 30 sec ).

👉 2.10 m: recommended for a short 4×4 or small pick-up ( double cab ).
👉 2.60 m: ideal for large vehicles, trucks, cells and layouts where covered space is a priority.
